Beach Combing Alaska's Shores and Beaches
The waters of Prince William Sound and south east Alaska provide thousands of miles of pristine beaches, coastline, rolling mountains and freshwater streams, lakes and ponds. Exploring these shorelines is almost as much fun as cruising along them, and shouldn’t be missed on your Alaska cruise experience.
Alaska Small Cruise Boat Style
One of the biggest advantages of an Alaska small boat cruise is the flexibility of our itinerary. Large Alaska cruise ships are on tight schedules that don’t allow them to make any spontaneous stops or stray from their itinerary. These large ships cruise past some of the prettiest and most pristine land in North America, but only make stops at pre-determined, well established ports of call. Of course when they make these stops all of the passengers aboard (usually numbering the thousands) rush off the ship and completely over crowd the area. Even more disheartening is that some of these ports host two of these mega ships simultaneously, effectively eliminating the chance for getting in touch with nature along the way.
This couldn’t be further from the truth aboard the Dream Catcher. We take pride in our spontaneity and are always willing to take time to get our passengers where they want to be. Plus, our captain and crew have spent decades traveling these waterways and know about all sorts of hidden gems such as abandoned mining camps, hidden waterfalls and great fishing holes. Don’t think your Alaska small boat cruise will be all about being on the water - there’s plenty of opportunity to take the adventure to the shore!
Half the Fun is Getting There
We have multiple implements on hand to get you to shore. Depending on the location and terrain, one of the boat's skiffs can usually whisk you ashore. This makes it possible for everyone aboard to make the shore trip, whether it be for a beach fire, hike or some other form of exploration. Kayaks are another option in many situations, allowing us to venture to even more inaccessible terrain.

"It is so cool hanging out on these remote beaches and islands. You have the whole place to yourself, checking out abandoned mining sites, amazing wildflowers and just poking around. Prince William Sound is amazing!"
