These ships pride themselves on providing all the creature comforts of home, but their size and tight schedules prohibit them from taking advantage of the magnificent surroundings.
Your cruise aboard a large cruise liner is pretty well mapped out before you get underway. You won't be able to change plans due to weather or unexpected circumstances. If there is particularly good whale watching on your way through Frederick Sound, for instance, you won't be able to stop and linger as you may well want to. Whales are inquisitive and seem to have almost as much interest in our small ship as we have in them. Other animals, such as otters and seals are too small to even been seen from the upper decks of the massive cruise liners.
