Testimonials
"We had no idea how much fun we'd have on our trip. Prince William Sound is more amazing then we could have ever dreamed."
Glacier
"The glaciers were even more impressive then we had imagined - and we were able to get so close to them!"
"It's hard to believe your seeing it with your own eyes - the immense icebergs that crash away from the tide water glaciers."
Family
The boats great for all ages; grandpa can relax at the same time mom is out kayaking with the kids, and everyone is able to meet back onboard for dinner.
The days seemed to evaporate on our 7 day cruise - there's always some animal popping its head out of the water or some amazing spectacle or adventure to get into.
Wildlife
I couldn't believe the abundance of wildlife in Alaska and in Southeast Alaska in particular. Whales, eagles, seals, otters and bears were frequent sights before, during and after our cruise adventure in Alaska.
Sea Otters are so cute, and they're everywhere!
The Sea Lions were so playful and friendly - like dogs of the sea. They were very interesting and very plentiful in Prince William Sound.
We saw this speck in the brush and as we got closer we saw it was actually an adult black bear. We were really excited to see it but were also glad it was from the safety of the boat's deck.
On our last night we were relaxing on the back deck watching the sun go down and watching a couple of Brown Bear cubs playing on the beach, enjoying the sunset themselves.
We saw a couple brown bears fishing for salmon late into the evening.
Whales
When you get on the boat you hope you'll see whales, but you don't really expect to. But then you see your first, second, third whale . . . and eventually you feel guilty when the captain announces a whale sighting and you don't even go to the deck to have a look.
It was so cool to see the Dall Porpoise playing in the boat's wake. They leapt in and out of the wake for almost 20 minutes before moving on to their next activity.
The captain told us that Orca (Killer Whales) sightings aren't an everyday occurrence. On our second day, however, we were treated to a whale show, courtesy of a large family of Killer Whales. It was amazing. . .
Beachcombing / Hiking
It is so cool hanging out on these remote beaches and islands. You have the whole place to yourselves, checking out abandoned mining sites, amazing wildflowers and just poking around.
The kids loved poking around the little tide pools and eddies along the beaches.
It was really cool having the skiff to make quick little trips to shore. We thought it was great but the kids thought it was awesome!
Kayak
I couldn't get enough kayaking in during the trip. Although I had no kayaking experience to speak of I took to the water like a fish in the single kayak provided aboard the Dream Catcher. You'd be amazed at how different the scenery is from water level. . .
Kayaking through the icebergs was just the coolest thing ever. Liddy, New Zealand
Fishing
Bringing home filets of frozen halibut and rock fish were an unexpected perk on our cruise. Our only concern now is finding enough freezer space at home for our catch!
The coolest thing about fishing on the boat was eating it right afterwards. If we caught a fish that day, the chef was only too happy to cook it up for us. That went for the crab and shrimp as well.
It was great that dad and grandpa could fish all day long while everyone else did what they pleased.
Cuisine
We were pleasantly surprised with the snacks the on board chef had prepared for us upon our arrival to the ship. She continued to please with an array of snacks, tasty meals and delightful treats throughout the week.
The cook is so cheerful. She just kept on cooking us delicious food night after night. You won't go hungry on these trips.
The Boat
I thought the Dream Catcher was the perfect type of boat for our 7 day cruise. It was large enough to accommodate all the activities we were doing and comfortable enough to make us feel right at home. Cruising Alaska with style aboard the Dream Catcher!
The boat had so much room - room for everything and everybody, it felt very spacious and very sturdy. It was comfortable but strong. The onboard packaging / cold storage made sending our fish home a snap.
Crew
The captain and crew were fantastic. They made all the difference in our truly unforgettable Alaska Cruise Adventure!
The captain's passion really shows through. He and the crew love what they do and made our trip ever the more special.
Captain Rob was very welcoming of us into his wheelhouse and was great with very knowledgeable answers to all our silly little questions.
Small Ship Cruising
We were so happy to have chosen Alaska Dream Ventures for our Alaska cruise. We saw one of the major cruise ships on our way into port on the last evening of our cruise and I couldn't help but feel sorry for those people not having experienced all the things we did.
After previously traveling to Alaska on a large cruise ship, I don't feel like a cattled beast anymore. It was nice to anchor in small harbors instead of bustling small town harbors. It was nice to see the whales up close. It was nice to really see Alaska instead of being on a floating hotel. Yanni, UK |
